WORLD LITERACY DAY EVENT AT SNIST

Happy international literacy day! To Mark this occasion and celebrate in unison an event was organized by the Innovation and Creativity Club, Bachpan Bachao and Sreenidhi Cancer Foundation. All the three are different student-run organizations of SNIST. The event in collaboration with Mr. G. Surrender Reddy, chief faculty advisor ICC SNIST was hosted by three organizations, The Lioness club- Hyderabad, State Research Center and Space, and Butterfly fields. The event was targeted at the less literate crowd hoping to revoke and invoke the importance that literacy holds in the society. The event began with a beautiful impromptu prayer and then continued to keep the excitement levels high. There were speeches given by the officials from all the three organizations which encouraged the less literate crowd to educate themselves so as to match with the speed of evolution of the society and mould accordingly. Simple concepts of ‘0’ were used to explain how a ‘sunna’ can be used to form every single letter from the Telugu and English alphabet, even numbers from 1-10. They were all given books to read and educate themselves. After this the guests addressed the youth and told them to take it as an opportunity to teach the others while we learn. This way we are using our skills for the betterment of both the society and India as a whole. The event ended with a small felicitation ceremony after which we concluded the day with few photographs to make it a memory.

INNOVISION 2015 WAS A DREAM: A REVIEW

Innovision 2015 was a dream. The National Level Ideation, Management, Literary cum Sports symposium was scheduled for the second week of August which meant that we had to begin our preparations as early as the end of June. Even though the minds of our organizing team and the eyes of our team of members were focused on the fest even before Innovision 2014 had ended, we had to script the ideas we had in our mind on paper and then put those words to action and construct a college festival which would exceed the expectations that people had about the fest. We began recruiting volunteers around the same time and grab every helping hand we could. Our organizing team began giving shape to the whole fest by planning out the events by equally distributing them across the platforms that the Innovation and Creativity Club SNIST represents. The coordinators were instrumental in bridging the gap between the organizers and the volunteers and also were responsible for interacting with the participants first hand. In the first week of July, the first draft of the festivals events was released which included workshops too. The rules and regulations were prepared, the posters were designed, the faculty advisors were informed, sponsors were recruited and the event picked up the pace and was in full swing around Mid July. Even though our team was forced to take a step back with the change of dates, it did not change our momentum or our direction and we repeated the same process as we did earlier, we put in double the efforts so as to get better results. With the fest around the corner during the ending of July and beginning of August, our off campus and on campus publicity teams jumped into the battlefield and began rounds interacting directly with the students who were present in several classrooms in several colleges. Around a similar time, our online publicity began online events, ‘Groupfie contest’ and ‘Dubsmash contest’ which attracted many enthusiasts. The publicity for the events was done on our facebook page, our blog and various other platforms parallel to the contests. During this time, our sponsors Jamboree Consultancy Services also conducted a session for the students of SNIST regarding education abroad and were kind enough to provide the students of our college with a nominal discount. With the fest closing in, the club had organized sessions especially for the volunteers and coordinators so as to explain and allocate them with their respective works and also tell them in general about the happenings of the fest so that they could reciprocate the same with any incoming participant. On August 6th, 2015, all of us slept a little too less so that we could contribute our best on the following day. The morning of August 7th was a bright one and the preparations for the inaugural ceremony had begun from as early as 5:30 am in the morning. Even with the delay, we could ensure that our events lined up for the day were conducted with ease. The inaugural ceremony was filled with positive words from the dignitaries who were invited to the event. The day ended with a small session for the volunteers and coordinators regarding the second day of the fest. On August 8th, the team had a spring in their step as main events were scheduled for that day only and all of us were on a tight schedule. Time flew and soon around 5 pm, the fest came to a close with a valedictory ceremony where prizes were distributed to all the winners. Our sponsors at Fascinova were kind enough to offer 30% and 20% Discount coupons for our winners and runners-up respectively. Celebrations took place after the ceremony which was followed by a photo session of the whole team. The two days of the festival were fast-paced, but we could savor every moment of it. A month of planning and building of a foundation was all successful when we could see the happiness on the face of every participant, every faculty member, and every student who involved with the proceedings of the fest. The fest was a successful one and brought people closer to others, and more importantly, closer to themselves aiding them in exploring their true hidden talents which rested on the periphery. We the entire team of Innovision 2015 thank you for being a part and supporting us all along. Without it, Innovision 2015 was just a dream.
